Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Worker Assistant - Foster Care to support casework for children and families in the Sumter area. You will assist higher-level specialists, coordinate transport to resources, and help document services provided during visits.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safeguarding client information, and completing timely case notes. A high school diploma is required and a valid driver’s license is essential for field assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 1+ year of child welfare related program experience.
• Associate Degree or higher may substitute for all or part of work requirements.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Remedy abuse, neglect or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves under supervision.
• Assist with transportation to resources in the community as part of social service aide plan.
• Complete timely documentation of all activities during visits to determine appropriateness of contact.
• Make referrals to service providers and other referrals as needed.
• Assist with child and family visitations and transportation.

Job Duties:

• The CWS Case Worker Assistant - Foster Care provides services to remedy abuse, neglect, exploitations or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves. Human Services Specialist I will assist Human Services Specialist II with providing casework services in the area of assessment, family preservation, foster care, adult and administration.
• Provides or arranges transportation to resources in the community as a part of social service aide plan.
• Participates as a member of a professional team to plan services for clients. Completes on a timely basis detailed documentations of all activities during visits to determine the appropriateness of the contact.
• Makes referrals to service providers, family group conferencing, Seneca search, NYAP, and other referrals needed.
• Assists with the transportation of children. Assist with child and family visitations. Teach appropriate parenting and household management skills.
• Ensures personal identification Information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed to protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
• Records client data and prepare written documents, communication effectively, follow instructions and maintain good interpersonal relationships with clients and co-workers.
• Assists with administrative support functions to include, faxing, copying, scanning, emailing, etc.
• Performs shelter/emergency response duties and other related duties as directed by supervisor.

High School Diploma and one (1) year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.

Associate Degree or higher may be substituted for all or part of the work requirements.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
