Job summary

APR Staffing in Portland, OR is seeking a Software Developer 2 - Reports and Analytics Developer to join our Data Integration and Reporting team on a full-time contract. You will design, build, and test static and dynamic BI reports using Power BI, SQL Server, and Visual Studio, collaborating with clients and teammates to ensure milestones are met.

This role requires US citizenship for a federal background check and may involve up to 5% travel; onsite one day per week with hybrid work

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with Power BI Server/Desktop and SSRS.
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SSDT for BI/report development.
• Strong SQL Server experience (2016/2022) and data access patterns.
• Scripting skills: VB/JavaScript and PowerShell for automation.
• Knowledge of report design and database design principles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical team members and customers to translate requirements into functional BI reports.
• Perform project technical tasks for fixed and analytic reports, including design, development, and testing.
• Develop static and dynamic reports from a three-tier client-server application (web/server/SQL).
• Customize templates and check-in policies within Visual Studio tooling as needed.
• Create/modify reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop.
• Troubleshoot report interoperability issues and data access using SQL backend.
• Develop customer-focused BI analytics solutions.
• Contribute to presentation layers aligned with customer requirements and best practices.
• Coordinate with team lead/project manager to keep milestones on track.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Information/Computer Technology or related technical discipline preferred

3 years IT experience with a Bachelor's degree

SUMMARY

This full-time contract assignment will support the Data Integration and Reporting organization within the corporate IT department. This assignment involves contributing to the organizing, planning, and managing of a large, complex reporting environment, and performing project technical requirements, design, development and testing tasks similar to those performed by the rest of the development team

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with technical team members and customers in order to translate user requirements from both internal and external corporate clients into functional capability. Confirm division's resources are available to provide representation to organizations within the corporation.
• Perform project technical requirements; design, development, and testing tasks for fixed and analytic reports.
• Develop static and dynamic reports from a three-tier client-server application that uses a web server, application server, and SQL database engine architecture.
• Write scripts and modify Microsoft Visual Studio methodology templates to provide customization of check-in policies, custom reports, and repetitive testing.
• Create and modify existing reports and dashboards using the Power BI Desktop tool.
• Troubleshoot and communicate report interoperability problems in existing web-driven applications using SQL as the backend for data access.
• Develop customer focused BI analytics solutions.
• Develop presentation layers in concert with customer requirements and best practices and approaches.
• Act as a point of contact and oversee technical schedule segments to ensure project milestones are completed on time by escalating issues to the team lead and project manager if necessary.
• Provide issue resolution in coordination with the team lead and project manager

Education & Corresponding Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Information/Computer Technology or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• 3 years of Information Technology experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree in a specified degree
• 5 years of Information Technology experience is required without a degree or an applicable degree
