Job summary

American Food & Vending is seeking a Replenishment Buyer to optimize inventory levels through forecasting, purchasing, and replenishment. The role collaborates with warehouses, operations, and vendors to ensure product availability while minimizing spoilage and stockouts.

Travel up to 25% is required. Remote role preferred for candidates in Central/Eastern time zones, with preferred bases in Syracuse, Dallas, or Kansas City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, or related field.
• 2-5+ years in inventory management, replenishment, or purchasing.
• Experience with perishable/high-turn inventory preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP/inventory systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite)
• Strong Excel skills for data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy and data integrity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels and trigger timely replenishment orders based on demand trends.
• Maintain stock levels to meet service goals while minimizing overstock and shrink.
• Manage daily/weekly order cycles to ensure product availability.
• Adjust purchasing for seasonality, promotions, and operations needs.
• Forecast demand by analyzing historical usage and sales trends.
• Refine forecasts to improve accuracy and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with operations and leadership to align purchasing with demand.
• Coordinate with suppliers on orders, deliveries, substitutions.
• Ensure timely deliveries to support warehouse operations.
• Assist in inventory transitions, new item setup, and discontinuations.
• Track KPIs like fill rate, turns, spoilage, and service levels.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory efficiency and reduce costs.

Summary

The Replenishment Buyer is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels through accurate forecasting, purchasing, and replenishment of products. This role ensures consistent product availability while minimizing excess inventory, spoilage, and stockouts. Working closely with warehouse, operations, and vendor partners, the Replenishment Buyer plays a critical role in supporting efficient product flow and meeting customer demand.

Travel up to 25%. This remote role is preferably based in Syracuse, Dallas, or Kansas City; candidates must be located in the Central or Eastern time zone.

Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Replenishment

• Monitor inventory levels and execute timely replenishment orders based on demand trends
• Maintain appropriate stock levels to support service requirements while minimizing overstock and shrink
• Manage order cycles (daily/weekly) to ensure consistent product availability
• Adjust purchasing based on seasonality, promotions, and operational needs

Demand Planning & Forecasting

• Analyze historical usage, sales trends, and seasonality to forecast product needs
• Continuously refine forecasts to improve accuracy and reduce waste
• Partner with operations and leadership to align purchasing with business demand

Vendor Coordination

• Communicate with suppliers regarding order placement, delivery schedules, shortages, and substitutions
• Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to support warehouse operations
• Resolve product availability or quality issues in collaboration with vendors

Warehouse & Operations Support

• Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure efficient receiving, storage, and inventory flow
• Support proper product rotation (FIFO) and handling to maintain freshness and quality
• Assist in managing product transitions, new item setup, and discontinuations

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Track and manage key performance indicators such as fill rate, inventory turns, spoilage, and service levels
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory efficiency and reduce costs

  Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to food safety standards and company policies
  • Maintain accurate records for inventory tracking and traceability
  • Support audit and compliance requirements as needed

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-5+ years of experience in inventory management, replenishment, or purchasing
  • Experience working with perishable or high-turn inventory preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, forecasting)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
