Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Windsor Locks, CT, is seeking a maintenance technician to perform overhaul, repair, and inspection of aircraft components on 2nd shift. You will follow manuals, blueprints, and procedures to ensure quality work and compliance.

Duties include material handling, documentation, and using precision measuring tools. The role requires a HS diploma or technical education with relevant experience, and experience with aerospace maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift hours: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am Monday – Friday.
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment or automotive industry.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience reading and following engine component maintenance manuals.
  • Prior experience reading blueprints.
  • Experience with arithmetic involving decimals and fractions.
  • Experience with mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform overhaul, rework, repair on aircraft equipment to maintain workflow while following safety directions.
  • Follow service manuals, workbooks, service bulletins, technical orders, blueprints and instructions per procedures.
  • Disassemble, rework, inspect, assemble and finalize products per quality standards.
  • Ensure documentation and tools are quality compliant and traceable.
  • Perform inspection including visual and dimensional checks and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain records such as checklists and unit history.
  • Operate computer terminals to retrieve or enter data.
  • Order parts using automated inventory system.
  • Use measuring equipment to perform required checks.
  • Prepare units for preservation and clean/degrea­se parts.
  • Monitor PH level for aqueous cleaners.
  • Provide support to customer witness needs.
  • Improve processes with team.

What You Will Do
  • Perform various overhaul, rework, repair and associated operations on aircraft equipment and components in both standard and non-standard environments to maintain flow of work while practicing and complying with environmental, health and safety directions and procedures.
  • Perform work in accordance with various work instructions such as service manuals, workbooks, service bulletins, technical orders, blueprints, customer service instructions and other written and verbal instructions within established methods and procedures.
  • Perform various duties to accomplish disassembly, rework, repair, inspection, assembly, final process and associated operations on various products utilizing proper procedures and techniques in order to conform with quality standards.
  • Ensure that all documentation such as specifications, procedures and forms and applicable tools, gages and fixtures are quality compliant and traceable.
  • Perform appropriate inspection operations including, receiving, process review, visual and dimensional checks, and documentation compliance.
  • Prepare, maintain and monitor all necessary records such as check lists, log sheets, unit history records, routing sheets and schedules.
  • Operate computer terminals to retrieve, enter or verify information.
  • Review customer service instructions to determine extent of service to be performed, generate documentation to determine appropriate routing of hardware.
  • Perform external visual check for damage and abnormalities and record on unit history record and/or receiving inspection form.
  • Order all necessary parts by utilizing automated parts inventory system.
  • Prepare supplemental sales order requisitions as required.
  • Utilize measuring equipment such as surface plate, dial indicators, height gages, micrometers and ohmmeters to perform required checks.
  • Prepare units for preservation.
  • Clean and degrease parts as required.
  • Monitor PH level for aqueous cleaners.
  • Obtain, move and expedite units, parts and materials within shop to support operations.
  • Perform test at detail or sub component level.
  • Verify work performed.
  • Support customer witness needs as required.
  • Improve process and solve problems in cooperation with fellow employees and supervision.
  • Perform minor and preventive maintenance such as check fluids levels, lubricate fittings, clean or replace filters, replace bulbs and tighten fittings and/or hardware.
  • Keep equipment and surroundings neat, clean, and organized.
  • Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function.
  • 2nd Shift 3:30 pm – 12:00 am Monday – Friday Training will be on 1st shift for up to 6 months.

The salary range for this role $34.80 - $43.75 per hour; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
