Job description

Position Summary

You do not need previous instrument repair experience to be considered. This is an entry-level job – we will train you!

Why is the Repair Technician role crucial?

When surgical instruments are sharpened and functioning properly, surgeons can focus on providing the best care for their patients. STERIS offers various repair solutions, including onsite mobile repair services, in-house repair lab services, and services at five national repair centers.

Position Details

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in Maryland.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic to intermediate inspection and repairs on surgical instruments using various tools and techniques. Attention to detail and manual dexterity are essential.
  • Work in the field on a mobile repair truck, inside a repair lab, or within a hospital, depending on customer needs within the assigned territory. Ability to sit/stand for extended periods is required.
  • Frequent trips inside hospitals are necessary, and weather conditions may vary.
  • Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience or 2+ years of work experience, verifiable
  • Ability to pass DOT medical/physical exam and adhere to DOT regulations
  • Must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license with a good record, and maintain required vaccinations
  • Ability to drive DOT-regulated vehicles and perform safety checks
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and push carts up to 150 lbs
  • Compliance with hospital/customer credentialing requirements

Relevant work experience includes repair, assembly, or testing with small tools, such as electronics repair, carpentry, circuit board assembly, sterile processing, or automotive repair.

Pay range: $18.99 - $26.50 per hour, with bonuses. Rates depend on experience, education, certifications, and local market conditions.
