Job summary

Transco Rail Services is seeking a Repair Manager for our Miles City, MT facility to schedule work, lead plant operations, and drive daily production goals. You will mentor Supervisors, uphold safety and quality standards, and engage in audits and continuous improvement efforts.

The role requires strong supervisory experience in railcar repair, familiarity with FRA regulations, and the ability to read engineering prints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years supervisory experience in rail car inspections, test, and repair.
• Knowledge of FRA regulations governing inspection and test of rail cars.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Repair Manager to schedule work and production requirements for all plant operations at our Miles City, Montana Repair Facility. Provide leadership and support to Area Managers and Repair Supervisors. In addition, you will monitor all daily management processes and lead daily tool box meetings.

Job Responsibilities:

• Coach, mentor, motivate and lead production Managers and Supervisors in all repair activities.
• Ensure safe working habits and safe working conditions by performing training for and periodic reviews of all employees and their work areas.
• Support the Quality Assurance Department efforts by ensuring compliance with all OSHA, AAR, FRA, company and customer requirements regarding all quality, environmental, health and safety regulations at all times, including but not limited to maintaining training and compliance.
• Make recommendations to the Plant Manager concerning the department with the intention of resulting in continual process improvements while maintaining established quality and safety standards.
• Participate in employee interviews, new hire orientation training and employee performance evaluations.
• Participate in all internal, external and customer audits regarding the departments.
• Participate in daily Production Meetings providing the status of rail cars in process.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• Preferably 5+ years of supervisory experience within rail car inspections, test, and repair.
• Knowledge of the Federal Railroad Administration’s regulations governing the inspection and test of rail cars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules.
• Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.
