Job summary

Transco Rail Services seeks a Repair Manager for our Miles City, Montana Repair Facility. Lead plant operations, schedule work, and provide direction to Area Managers and Supervisors to ensure safe, efficient repairs of railcars.

You will participate in audits, interviews, and daily production meetings, while upholding OSHA, FRA, and AAR standards. A related bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of supervisory rail work are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• 5+ years supervisory experience in rail car inspections, test, and repair preferred.
• Knowledge of FRA regulations governing inspection and test of rail cars.
• Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.

Responsibilities

• Coach, mentor, motivate and lead production Managers and Supervisors in all repair activities.
• Ensure safe working habits and conditions by training and reviewing employees.
• Support QA efforts by ensuring compliance with OSHA, AAR, FRA, and company requirements.
• Make recommendations to Plant Manager for process improvements while maintaining quality and safety.
• Participate in employee interviews, orientation, and performance evaluations.
• Participate in audits and daily Production Meetings to report status of rail cars in process.

Provide leadership and support to Area Managers and Repair Supervisors. In addition, you will monitor all daily management processes and lead daily tool box meetings.Job Responsibilities:Coach, mentor, motivate and lead production Managers and Supervisors in all repair activities.Ensure safe working habits and safe working conditions by performing training for and periodic reviews of all employees and their work areas.Support the Quality Assurance Department efforts by ensuring compliance with all OSHA, AAR, FRA, company and customer requirements regarding all quality, environmental, health and safety regulations at all times, including but not limited to maintaining training and compliance.Make recommendations to the Plant Manager concerning the department with the intention of resulting in continual process improvements while maintaining established quality and safety standards.Participate in employee interviews, new hire orientation training and employee performance evaluations.Participate in all internal, external and customer audits regarding the departments.Participate in daily Production Meetings providing the status of rail cars in process.Job Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.Preferably 5+ years of supervisory experience within rail car inspections, test, and repair.Knowledge of the Federal Railroad Administration’s regulations governing the inspection and test of rail cars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules.Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.What We Offer:Transco strives to be the Employer of Choice.
