The Class I Maintenance Engineer plays an important role in maintaining the appearance, comfort, safety, and functionality of the resort. This hands‑on position performs a variety of general maintenance, repair, painting, and preventive maintenance duties throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house facilities.

Essential Functions
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance and general repair tasks throughout guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house spaces, and resort facilities.
  • Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests while providing courteous, professional, and service‑focused assistance.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including:
  • Replacing light bulbs, fixtures, switches, and ballasts as appropriate.
  • Repairing and replacing door hardware, locks, hinges, and related components.
  • Unclogging drains and performing basic plumbing repairs.
  • Repairing or replacing faucets, toilets, shower components, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Completing minor carpentry repairs and adjustments.
  • Patching drywall, repairing wall surfaces, and preparing areas for finishing.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting duties throughout the resort, including guest rooms, corridors, public areas, offices, back‑of‑house spaces, and other assigned areas.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, priming, and protecting surrounding finishes.
  • Apply paint, stain, sealant, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and other appropriate equipment while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
  • Complete paint touch‑ups and cosmetic repairs to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, railings, and other resort surfaces to maintain established appearance standards.
  • Properly store, maintain, and clean painting tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist senior engineers with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other technical repairs as directed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and report deficiencies.
  • Assist with the operation and routine maintenance of swimming pool and spa areas as assigned.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Accurately complete and update work orders using the property's maintenance management system.
  • Maintain Engineering work areas, shops, storage rooms, and assigned work locations in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all established safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and company policies and standards.
  • Assist with room renovations, property improvement projects, special events, seasonal projects, and other resort maintenance needs.
  • Protect guest belongings, resort furnishings, floors, landscaping, and surrounding areas while performing maintenance and painting work.
  • Communicate maintenance concerns, repair needs, and potential safety issues promptly to Engineering leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on resort and operational needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, painting, construction, facilities, landscaping, hospitality, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of general maintenance practices and safe use of hand and power tools is preferred.
  • Experience with interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, drywall patching, caulking, and touch‑up work is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to learn multiple maintenance trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, professional‑quality work.
  • Strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize assigned tasks, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely climb and work from ladders as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with painting, sanding, rolling, brushing, and general maintenance work.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, painting equipment, and general maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work around paint, cleaning products, maintenance materials, and other chemicals while following required safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
Schedule Requirements
  • Primary shift 3:00 pm -11:30 pm
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on resort operational needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • May be required to work overtime or assist with emergency maintenance situations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous hotel, resort, facilities maintenance, construction, or painting experience.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Basic painting, drywall, carpentry, plumbing, and general repair skills.
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • EPA Section 608 certification is a plus but not required.
