Job Overview

The Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, a 320‑room luxury hotel located in the 200‑acre Viking Lakes mixed‑use development, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure a safe, efficient, and well‑maintained hotel/resort environment. The role includes construction and maintenance of building systems and coordination with contractors and service providers.

Salary starts at $24.00/hour based on experience. Essential Job Functions
  • Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Perform inspections and routine maintenance on building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, etc.).
  • Upgrade and replace old wiring and insulated cables, clean circuits, and use diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Contribute to development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment, place orders when necessary, and control maintenance expenses.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Maintain detailed logs and report on daily activities.
  • Execute electrical wiring plans for lighting, intercom, and other systems; set up exhibits.
  • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment for alarm and safety systems.
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring in circuits and networks.
  • Diagnose hazards or malfunctions, repair or substitute damaged units, and conduct effective troubleshooting.
  • Maintain all electrical equipment according to preventive maintenance program.
  • Provide technical assistance to other engineers; receive direction from engineering management.
  • Respond promptly to radio house calls and update work requests via the Synergy system.
  • Understand Omni fire alarm procedures, hotel rules, and regulations, and adhere to lock‑out/tag‑out and arc‑flash precautions.
  • Clean all work areas after completion of jobs and uphold Omni Associate appearance standards.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in relevant vocational training or completed apprenticeship as an electrician with a valid license.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems; HVAC certification preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including electrical and heating.
  • Willingness to abide by health & safety practices and regulations.
  • Favorable guest interaction with a friendly and outgoing demeanor.
  • Ability to prioritize and self‑manage assigned work, and to troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment independently.
  • Demonstrated budgeting and performance management understanding.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place moderate to heavy objects without assistance.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Respond quickly to sounds and identify dangerous situations.
  • Climb ladders safely while carrying moderate to heavy weight.
  • Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Working Environment
  • Indoor hotel areas, including all resort facilities.
  • Exterior hotel areas with exposure to weather conditions.
  • Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures and hazardous chemicals.
Tools & Equipment
  • Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
  • Multi‑meter (Class III, UL Listed).
  • Desktop computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, and other office supplies.
