Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' hospitality engineering experience.
  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing preferred; CPO and EPA certifications required; if not possessed, must be obtained within 6 months.
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management and life safety systems.
  • Knowledgeable in safety use for power tools and general engineering equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in ADA, blueprints, fire codes and fire protection.
  • Demonstrates leadership, organizational and communication skills; strong guest relations.
  • Ability to manage timekeeping, vendor contracts and personnel actions per Omni standards.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering staff with director guidance.
  • Coordinate with departments to meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee capital budget projects, bids, and contractor management.

  • Ensure timely completion of work by external vendors and maintain records.

Job description

Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and providing consistent, cost‑effective maintenance programs that ensure the property's safe and efficient operation.

Essential Job Functions
  • Coordinate and operate, in an economic, legal and safe manner, all R&M & utility expenses.
  • Manage Birchstreet for all R&M expenses, participate in all month‑end financial processes and forecasting.
  • Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program for public spaces, guestrooms and equipment. All work requests and preventive maintenance to be managed in Synergy.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety, health standards and legal requirements set forth by hotel policy.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering associates in coordination with the Director of Associate Services.
  • Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for project execution; manage special permits and licenses as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain own and resort's special permits and licenses as required by local, state and federal authorities.
  • Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the Engineering team; maintain personnel records, utility logs, and engineering records.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost‑savings.
  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly department meetings.
  • Effectively coach and counsel associates as needed and complete performance evaluations.
  • Attend all company required training.
  • Champion the Omni / Power of One / Power of Engagement culture.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' hospitality engineering experience required or in a similar field.
  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing is preferred. CPO and EPA certifications are required; if not currently possessed, must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, and all life safety systems pertinent to hotel operations.
  • Knowledgeable in safety use for power tools, general engineering tools and equipment, pool pumps and filtration systems.
  • Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blueprints, fire codes and fire protection.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills; must possess effective teamwork and guest relations.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
  • Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed according to Omni standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts and personnel action forms.
  • Possess relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.
Physical Requirements
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Respond quickly to sounds; move safely over uneven terrain; identify and respond to dangerous situations; climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight. Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Working Environment
  • Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
