Job summary

Component Repair Technologies, Inc. (CRT) in Mentor, OH, seeks a Repair Development Engineer to lead industrialization, development, and integration of repairs for turbine engine components. You will create, construct and integrate repairs into approved data formats and develop new repairs with OEM support.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians to translate OEM manuals into actionable work instructions while ensuring compliance with FAA data and aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or a high school diploma with 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• Ability to interpret OEM manuals, FAA regulations, and blueprints and apply them.
• Mechanical inclination with technical and practical assessment.
• Experience reading technical drawings and work instructions; follow verbal and written guidelines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey complex concepts.

Responsibilities

The Repair & Development Engineering Team utilizes the latest in advanced technologies to develop innovative repairs, work instructions, and tooling within the framework of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidelines.

The Repair Development Engineer is responsible for the industrialization, development and integration of repairs for gas turbine engine components. This position will lead projects to create, construct and integrate existing repairs into an approved technical data format, as well as industrial development of new repairs with OEM support.

This position will work alongside a team of experienced team members that will allow continuous interaction for acquiring the techniques, knowledge, and skills required of the job, while collaborating with other company experts of the business.

1. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

2.Research original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals and technical data to develop clear and concise work development/work instructions for gas turbine engine components.

3.Analyze and evaluate the OEM manual and review assembly diagrams, parts catalogue and articulate the information into understandable and efficient work instructions.

4.Interpret, evaluate and apply information and knowledge taken from blueprints, technical drawings to daily projects.

5.Communicate at a high-level regarding component status, problem solving, repair time estimates, and project management.

6.Evaluate issues with nonconforming engine components and approved technical data. Collaborate with the OEM to recover unserviceable components while supporting customer requirements.

7.Work with Process Engineers and other subject matter experts to generate repair documentation.

8.Review repair flow to improve efficiency and turn time of components.

9.Develop and/or revise work instructions and tooling to facilitate production. Communicate new work instruction requirements to production, supervision, and other support personnel.

10.Ensure repair requirements are being met using FAA approved technical data and/or industry standards.

Required Qualifications:

1.Four Year (Bachelor’s) degree in an Engineering or technical field (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.) from an accredited college or university (Or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in applicable fields)

2.Ability to understand and interpret complex technical documentation including OEM repair manuals, FAA Regulations, and blueprints and the ability to apply and integrate said information in a systematic manner.

3.Mechanically inclined with the ability to evaluate from both a technical and mechanical perspective.

4. Experience in understanding and following verbal and written instructions accurately, including the reading and interpretation of technical drawings and work scope instructions.

Other Qualifications:

1.Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

2.Above average knowledge of computers and standard software programs.

3.Experience in interpreting and applying basic shop math and the use of measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipers.

4.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

5.Understanding blueprints and other engineering drawings

6.Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to work effectively with other engineers and technicians as well as the ability to convey complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization.

7.Problem solving and analytical skills, capable of identifying and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.

8. Strong understanding of engineering principles, equipment, and systems.

1.This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.

2.Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.

3.Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.

4.Occasionally required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 10 lbs.
