Job summary

U.S. Xpress in Tempe, AZ seeks a Rep, Carrier Sales to manage carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and secure load coverage while driving profitability. You will work with an outsourced network and use digital systems to improve service.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate rates with carriers to maximize profitability.
  • Grow and manage a network of carriers via lead generation and referrals.
  • Maintain quality relationships with carriers, providers, drivers, and stakeholders.
  • Promote use of U.S. Xpress digital and automated systems.
  • Track and monitor loads, carrier performance and data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues for carriers and customers.
  • Sourcing new business opportunities and providing market feedback to procurement.
  • Verify carrier credentials meet compliance and customer requirements.
  • Maintain communication and documentation for carriers in our systems.

Primary PositionPurpose:

Facilitate the successful movement of loads for our customers bycontracting and managing an outsourced network of transportationproviders. Track freight to ensurecustomer requirements are met by the selected transportation provider. Make customer service the top priority byproviding customers and carriers with the highest level of service possible.


Position Functions:

Manage carrier relationshipto negotiate rates and secure load coverage while maximizing profitability.
Establish, grow,and manage a network of carriers vialead generation, cold calling, and referrals.
Developand maintain quality working relationships with carriers, transportationproviders, drivers, and external/internal stakeholders by proactivecommunication.
Workwith carrier base to drive the use of U.S. Xpress digital and automatedsystems.
Trailermanagement- contribute to the balancing of trailer networks by leveragingcarrier relationships and maintaining accurate system data.
Monitor carrier performance to maintainhigh level service
Utilizecarrier network and relationships to grow book of business to meet thedemands of our customers.
Workwith internal teams to resolve issues for carrier partners and customers.
Manage communication/documentation forCarriers in our systems.
Gatherand communicate market information about the supply and demand of capacityin the marketplace to understand market conditions and lane rates.
Sourcingnew business opportunities- vetting via internal/external data andproviding market feedback to strategic procurement team.
Reviewcarrier credentials to ensure they meet U.S. Xpress Logistics complianceand customer requirements.
Responsiblefor monitoring, tracking, and tracing all loads.
Make service the top priority by providingcarriers with the highest level of service .
Collaborate with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.
Attend and engage in all meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives.




What We’re Looking For:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred. (Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.)


Experience

Experience in Sales, Transportation, Finance, or Hospitality experience preferred
Experience thriving in a fast paced, deadline driven work environment.


Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in utilizing Excel and/or Power BI at an intermediate level preferred
Ability to comfortably negotiate , persuade and manage conflict
Adept at assessing organizational dynamics and managing change
Work quickly and efficiently.
Able to test solutions, learn, and iterate quickly
Forward-thinking and solution driven
Effectively communicates through various channels
