Job summary

Schweitzer is seeking a Rental Technician to help guests select, fit, and adjust rental ski and snowboard equipment for safety and comfort. You will maintain inventory, inspect gear, and educate guests on proper use while delivering friendly, expert service in a fast-paced mountain environment.

You may rotate into the Gear Check storage area and handle equipment fees. Prior skiing expertise and Alpine binding certifications are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• License/Certifications- Alpine Binding manufacturer certifications, in-house training is provided.
• Technical knowledge of equipment and machines used for waxing and tune-ups.
• Physical ability to stand long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect skis and snowboards for damage or wear, prior to checking out to guests.
• Fit guests for rental boots and assist buckling and lacing boots.
• Set up skis to fit boot properly including binding release tension.
• Set up snowboards to match boot size and adjust stance for each guest.
• Assist with equipment testing and maintenance, including waxing.
• Provide expert customer service and explain repair options and recommendations.
• Ensure safety standards and follow resort safety protocols, especially DIN settings.
• Handle cash when working Gear Check facility.

Position Summary

The Rental Technician is responsible for assisting guests with selecting, fitting, and adjusting rental ski and snowboard equipment to ensure safety, comfort, and performance. This role includes maintaining rental inventory, inspecting gear for damage, and educating customers on proper equipment use. Technicians provide friendly, knowledgeable service in a fast-paced environment, helping guests have a safe and enjoyable mountain experience. Additionally the Rental Technician will rotate in to the Gear Check storage facility and collect fees for holding guest’s equipment.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities

• Inspect skis and snowboards for damage or wear, prior to checking equipment out to guests.
• Fit guests for rental boots and assist them buckling and lacing the boots.
• Set up skis to fit the boot properly including setting binding release tension properly.
• Set up snowboards to match boot size and help adjust the stance for each guest.
• Assist with equipment testing and maintenance, including waxing of equipment.
• Provide expert customer service and communicate with guests to understand their equipment needs, explain repair options, and offer recommendations for optimal performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and follow industry and resort safety protocols when handling equipment, especially with binding adjustments and DIN settings.
• Cash handling expected when working the Gear Check facility.

Specific Job Skills

• License/Certifications- Alpine Binding manufacturer certifications, in-house training is provided.
• Technical- knowledge of equipment and machines used for equipment waxing as well as technical knowledge of skis and snowboards.
• Physical Capabilities- Ability to stand for the entirety of a shift and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.Additional- Strong guest service and attention to detail.

Education/Related Experience

• Minimum education required- High School diploma preferred
• Minimum time in related position- Ski and/or snowboard experience preferred
