Hourly Pay Rate: $13.25
The OP Rental Center Specialist – Equipment will be responsible for managing and maintaining equipment fleets at the OP Rental Center. Duties include but are not limited to: researching and implementing best practices related to gear maintenance, assisting with the preparation and management of the annual gear sale, assisting with the bi-annual inventory process, developing potential training/skill workshops for rental technicians, and providing general instructions on the use of outdoor equipment to staff or customers. This position is expected to help improve efficiency and effectiveness at the program. Specialists will be expected to take initiative in improving the program by presenting ideas and projects to managers/coordinators and working towards implementing those specific projects. This position will work closely with the OP Coordinator and the student manager of OP Rentals. Candidates must have a strong interest in outdoor recreation, experience working with outdoor equipment, a desire to learn and expand skills related to equipment maintenance, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and great customer service skills.
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Agility is emphasized. Important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion. Maintaining equilibrium to prevent falling. Walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Required to have close visual acuity to inspect small defects, small parts at distances close to the eye, and to perform tasks such as operating machines where the job is at or within arm’s reach.
The worker is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Activities occur inside and outside.
