Position Overview

The Rental and Repair Counter Associate keeps one of the busiest counters in our store running smoothly. On any given day, you might check in a mower for service, book a rental reservation, send a customer off with the right equipment, fill a propane tank, and cut a key, all before lunch.

The heart of this role is teamwork. Our counter serves both rental and repair customers, and we are looking for someone who is willing to help at either end whenever needed. If you can prioritize on the fly, juggle several tasks at once, and still give every customer your full attention, this full-time position is a great fit.

What You Will Do Repair Counter

• Check in new equipment for the repair shop, accurately recording customer and equipment information
• Take payment to finalize work orders, both at the counter and over the phone
• Check in screens, mower blades, and chainsaw chains for repair or sharpening

Rental Counter

• Create rental reservations for customers in person and over the phone
• Send out rental equipment, making sure customers have what they need to get the job done
• Receive returned rentals and complete the check-in process

Counter Services

• Fill propane tanks and NEG cylinders
• Exchange welding gas cylinders
• Make basic keys

Teamwork & Priorities

• Support both the rental and repair sides of the counter whenever needed
• Prioritize tasks throughout the day so the most time-sensitive customer needs are met first
• Multitask effectively during busy periods while maintaining accuracy and a positive customer experience
• Perform other tasks as directed by the relevant supervisor or manager

Team Player A willingness to jump in wherever you are needed, at either end of the counter, and support your teammates without being asked. Prioritization Ability to quickly decide what needs attention first and keep work moving when several customers and tasks compete for your time. Multitasking Comfort handling phone calls, walk-in customers, payments, and hands-on tasks in the same shift while staying organized and accurate. Customer Service Ability to meet customers' needs in a way that results in a positive experience while consistently following company procedures. Mechanical Aptitude A comfort level with equipment and tools that helps you check in repairs, explain rentals, and handle propane and gas cylinders safely.

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in retail, rental, service counter, or another customer-facing role preferred
• Basic computer skills and comfort using a point-of-sale system to process payments
• Familiarity with outdoor power equipment, rental equipment, or tools is a plus
• Willingness to learn and safely perform propane filling, gas cylinder exchange, and key cutting; training provided
• Strong communication skills, both in person and over the phone
• Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays
• Willingness to become forklift certified
