Penguin Random House in Reno, NV is seeking a Material Handler for the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 10:30am–6:30pm). The role involves picking, packing and shipping books, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and supporting shipping operations in a high-volume distribution center that handles about 1.2 million books daily.

Responsibilities include palletizing cartons, moving products, labeling shipments, and assisting with prepacks and assortments.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and perform simple math.
• Must regularly lift cartons up to 35 pounds, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Able to read instructions and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to work Monday–Friday on 2nd shift.

Penguin Random House is the premier provider of distribution services in the publishing industry. Our fulfillment center, located in Reno, NV is seeking qualified workers and available to work. It is only with a dedicated staff we are able to meet and exceed our customers expectations by picking, packing and shipping approximately 1.2 million books daily to customers around the world.

We have an immediate opening for a Material Handler on our 2nd shift. ($19.35/hr.)

Monday - Friday (10:30am - 6:30pm)

Position Responsibilities

• Palletize cartons and prepare cartons to ship.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Perform product movement or other special work as requested by supervisor.

May also be expected to:

• Pick orders and pack books into designated cartons.
• Assemble/disassemble all needed materials for prepacks and assortments.
• Wrap small orders, apply proper postage and labels, tape packages and take to shipping.
• Weigh, apply postage to all publicity mailings and route directly to shipping.
• When necessary, change price of books either by machine or manually, operate various equipment, such as tape and price stickering machine.
• Fill completed cartons with bubble wrap in final pack.

Minimum Requirements

• Must show initiative to work with little direct supervision.
• Must be able to read, write and perform simple math.
• Must be able to regularly lift cartons up to 35 pounds, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to lift, move and handle empty pallets.
