Job summary

Hull & Company seeks a Renewal Underwriter to join our growing team in Missoula, MT or Portland, OR. The Renewal Underwriter will review renewal applications and assist with new business applications to evaluate, classify, and rate individuals and groups for insurance and accept or reject applications.

Responsibilities include examining various documents to assess risk, reviewing records for in-force insurance amounts, underwriting renewal accounts, and assisting with new business as directed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or 5 years of insurance experience, 2 years as an underwriting assistant.
• Proficient with MS Office and exceptional telephone demeanor.
• 1–3 years’ experience with excess and surplus lines underwriting agency or company.

Responsibilities

• Examine documents to determine risk level based on applicant factors.
• Review records to determine insurance in force and analyze exposure.
• Underwrite or broker renewal accounts and obtain required information per carrier guidelines.
• Assist with review, analysis, and underwriting of renewal and new business as directed.
• Rate accounts for premiums and terms and issue quotes, binders, and indications.
• Coordinate with underwriters/brokers to market and meet agency customers to grow the book of business.
