Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a seasoned portfolio manager to oversee wind and solar assets within a geographic area totaling <600 MW of generating capacity and a $10-12M operating budget.

You will direct employees and/or contractors in operation and maintenance, drive safety, reliability and cost control, and interface with landowners, regulators, and internal teams to ensure compliant, profitable performance across all sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of power plant operations and maintenance experience (if no degree).
• Experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Minimum of 8 years of industry experience including work in power plant environment (operations, maintenance, safety, performance).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and control plant activities for safe, efficient and economical operation.
• Support and oversee the facility's safety and health programs.
• Develop, maintain and enforce safe working conditions with proper tools and equipment.
• Establish and enforce safe work behaviors.
• Communicate safety importance daily to employees/contractors.
• Report incidents and perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Direct the operation of plant activities to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Develop short- and long-range maintenance and capital plans.
• Coordinate with officials, landowners and regulators.
• Develop budgets, variance reports and control expenditures.
