Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a ROC Operator for the Renewables Operations Center. You will dispatch hydro, solar, and battery storage assets, monitor screens, coordinate with site technicians, and maintain logs and compliance with FERC and ECC procedures.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent, NERC access eligibility, Level 2 JPMs, and the ability to work rotating shifts in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 2 years of work experience.
• In lieu of degree 4 years of operational/generation station experience
• Ability to obtain unescorted NERC access.
• Completed Level2 JPMs and pass ROC Board Evaluation within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Partner with ECCs to mitigate grid events and meet customer energy demand.
• Dispatch and operate hydro, solar, and battery storage assets.
• Constantly monitor operational screens on ROC fleet assets.
• Work with site technicians to mitigate alarms and workarounds.
• Manage site safety and security elements of assets per procedures.
• Adjust unit controls based on response, limitations, and voltage schedules.
• Make operational decisions to ensure facility and public safety.
• Maintain accurate Plant View logs and waterway management records.
