Job summary

LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico seeks a Renewables Operations Engineer reporting to the Project Director in the Department of System Operation. The role focuses on supporting Power Purchase and Operating Agreements (PPOAs), developing procedures, testing protocols, and dispatch forecasts for renewable projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage PPOAs, JOPs, and other Operating Contracts with generators and market participants to ensure adequate energy supply.
• Develop and manage, and monitor Agreed Operating Procedures (AOPs), testing protocols, and performance metrics for PPOAs, especially for existing and new renewable projects.
• Develop daily/weekly models for renewable projects' availability and capability forecast, and hourly dispatch tables used by Control Center operators in real-time dispatching to maintain constant frequency and energy balance.
• Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with policies, regulations, strategic action plans, and PPOAs.
• Participate in the assessment of PPOAs performance and collaborate with the legal and regulatory team to maintain or update PPOAs.
• Assist other teams within System Operation in developing programs, processes, procedures, and implementation of systems and technologies that promote efficiency, productivity and continuity.
• Assist in analysis of new projects and changes to existing projects, reports, rules, and procedures affecting System Operation and provide recommendations.
• Develop, monitor and analyze System Operation KPIs pertaining to generators and market operations.
• Prepare reports and statistics for strategy and decision-making, ensuring accuracy and reliability of information.
• Follow all policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform major storm restoration work and associated drills.
