Job summary

Invenergy, LLC is seeking an Operations Electrical Engineer in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves supporting the onboarding of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery storage.

Applicants should have a BS in Electrical Engineering, 3-5 years of relevant work experience, and strong communication skills. The position offers a base pay of $105,000.00 – $130,000.00 with an annual bonus of 20% – 30%, as well as comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of work experience in substation, collection system, and major electrical equipment.
• Some travel is required (< 25%).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with teams to identify and close electrical readiness gaps.
• Serve as Operations Electrical Engineering owner for onboarding new projects.
• Review Arc Flash and electrical system studies for completeness.
• Perform personal protective ground sizing calculations.
• Support development of switching and clearance procedures.
• Review as-built electrical documentation.
• Support development of initial site electrical maintenance plan.
• Coordinate with NERC Compliance and Operations teams.
• Evaluate operational readiness through site visits.

Skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical schematics

Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems

Basic understanding of protective relaying concepts

Education

BS in Electrical Engineering or similar major
