Job summary

Geronimo Power is seeking a Meteorology Performance Analysis Intern in Bloomington, MN to join the Data Science team for Summer 2027. You will analyze SCADA and meteorological data, identify performance trends, and support data-driven decisions across asset management and operations.

The role provides hands-on exposure to renewable energy analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning applications while contributing to fleet-wide energy production and asset reliability.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with data analysis and statistical concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in SCADA data quality control and anomaly detection using statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Collaborate with plant operations staff to troubleshoot underperformance issues and identify potential causes.
• Support root cause analysis efforts for underperforming assets and help develop recommendations for corrective actions.
• Perform routine analysis of fleet-wide operational and meteorological data to assess asset performance and validate analytical models.
• Communicate technical findings and performance insights to key stakeholders through reports, presentations, and dashboards.
• Assist with data collection, validation, cleansing, and organization from multiple operational and meteorological data sources.
• Support development and maintenance of performance monitoring tools, visualizations, and reporting solutions.
• Conduct research on industry performance trends, meteorological impacts, and renewable energy analytics best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Asset Management, Operations, Engineering, and Data Science.
• Support special projects related to asset optimization, data science, and operational performance improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.
