Job summary

Valero invites students to join its Intern Program, offering Renewables Engineering Co-ops and Interns in a bio-refining environment. The role supports engineering managers with technical tasks in an ethanol plant, including design, modification and operation of process equipment.

As a Spring–Summer co-op, you will work 40 hours per week, gain hands-on experience, and participate in mentorship and the annual Intern Symposium at Valero Headquarters. Valero is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Biosystems Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 60 credit hours by start of internship.
• Graduation date on or after internship end date.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Engineering Manager with technical support for the ethanol plant.
• Support the design, modification and operation of process equipment in the ethanol plant.
• Support projects from conception through completion including capital, expense and maintenance projects.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel for optimization and troubleshooting.
• Prepare justification, cost estimates and other project documents for approval.
• Develop technical specifications to procure equipment and services.
• Support maintenance and operations as a technical resource.
• Maintain documentation for OSHA Process Safety Management as required.

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Biosystems Engineering
