Job summary

WSP USA's Summer Internship Program invites students to join the Power and Energy team as a Civil Engineering (Renewables) Intern. Positions are based in Cincinnati, OH, with Columbus and Cleveland also considered, and require full-time status for the summer.

The 12‑week internship begins May 17, 2027, offering hands-on project exposure, mentorship through the Developing Professionals Network, and opportunities to assist with preliminary design calculations, field work, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program with a graduation date Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interest in Consulting Engineering or Renewable Energy and related field.
• Strong written and spoken communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to take direction from mentors and leaders to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Be involved in interconnection process and renewable energy delivery to the grid.
• Interconnection design work including diagrams, SCADA, wiring, routing, and substation layout.
• Perform design calculations per IEEE, NEC, NESC, ASCE, and related standards.
• Assist senior engineers with QA/QC and design tasks for renewable substations.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to company Code of Conduct and policies.
• No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
