Title: Renewable Energy Foreman

Job Summary

The Renewable Energy (RE) Foreman installs, maintains, and repairs commercial and industrial sized renewable energy systems to include solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery backup while mentoring the apprentices around them. Knowledge ranges from DC installation of solar panels to setting and wiring inverters and AC combiner panels. The foreman could be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, planning, and execution of small solar construction projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. The foreman leads field crews, coordinates subcontractors, and acts as the on-site liaison between the RE superintendent, project manager, field operations, and clients. This role offers experience under the supervision of experienced superintendents and provides a pathway for career growth in the electrical and renewable energy industry. Must be willing to travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately install racking, PV modules, wire, conduit, inverters, DC/AC combiners, and breakers according to job specifications and NEC
  • Install electrical distribution and automation equipment: switchgear, panels, transformers
  • Proficient with circuitry of the trade to include DC and AC power, control, and motor terminations
  • Bend conduit by hand and with benders
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
  • Supervise field construction activities related to solar PV installation, including mechanical, electrical, and civil scopes
  • Lead on-site meetings, safety briefings, and schedule coordination with crews and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (NEC, OSHA, AHJ)
  • Enforce strict adherence to company and site‑specific safety protocols and procedures
  • Inspect work progress and quality, resolving issues to maintain construction standards
  • Maintain daily field logs, reports, and documentation of manpower, inspections, and progress
  • Perform QA/QC inspections and assist with commissioning tasks
  • Support project closeout, punch list resolution, and turnover documentation
Qualifications
  • Registered Journeyman or have completed an LLR certified apprenticeship program
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in construction, solar, or electrical preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in solar or electrical project supervision
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, racking, wiring, and inverters (commercial or utility‑scale)
  • Proven leadership and team management skills in a construction setting
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally (written, verbal, and nonverbal)
  • Strong ability to get along with others in a professional manner
  • Proficiency in critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, electrical schematics, and project schedules
  • Familiarity with NEC and OSHA regulations and job site safety best practices (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Proficient with basic computer skills and project management software (e.g., Teams, MS Word, MS Project)
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to travel between project sites as needed
  • NABCEP license encouraged
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing physical tasks as needed
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or operate tools and materials
  • Regularly required to talk and hear while working in teams
Work Environment
  • Able to work in outdoor construction environments with exposure to heat, cold, varying weather, dust, and uneven terrain for extended periods of time
  • Regular exposure to loud noise, moving parts, and vibration from power tools and machinery
  • Work is performed primarily at active construction or installation sites
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings, based on project needs with an ability to travel 80 percent of the time
