Job summary

Calpine is seeking a Commodity Data Analyst to price, manage data, and cover regulatory and market aspects for retail RPS transactions in competitive markets. The role interfaces with the commercial team on a wide range of issues related to retail and wholesale commodity transactions and reporting.

The position focuses on managing REC exposure from Calpine’s energy sales and requires a strong understanding of Renewable Portfolio Standards and reporting under various state regimes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or technical discipline required.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with financial and physical RPS trading markets is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain RPS position reports for Calpine’s retail units.
  • Manage physical flow and settlement of RPS, RECs and Carbon Offsets.
  • Reconcile RPS cost allocations between bundled and pass-through customers.
  • Develop automated processes for calculating monthly RPS pass-through rates.
  • Prepare RECs for retirement in accordance with yearly RPS obligations.
  • Collaborate with Operations to optimize REC positions via banking.
  • Prepare pricing for basic retail structures for new and existing customers.
  • Communicate executable and indicative pricing to Sales in a timely manner.
