Job summary

Calpine, a leading U.S. energy company, seeks a Commodity Data Analyst to price, manage data, and cover regulatory and market aspects for retail RPS transactions in competitive markets.

You will interface with the commercial team, manage Renewable Energy Credit exposure for Calpine’s retail and wholesale sales, and ensure accurate reporting and compliance with state Renewable Portfolio Standards. Strong data analysis and pricing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance or technical discipline required.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain accurate RPS position reports for all retail business units.
• Manage the physical flow and settlement of RPS, Voluntary RECs and Carbon Offsets.
• Reconcile RPS cost allocations between bundled and pass-through customers.
• Develop and maintain automated processes for calculating monthly RPS pass-through rates.
• Assist with development of processes to manage Carbon Offset and REC obligations and wholesale positions.
• Prepare RECs for retirement in accordance with yearly RPS compliance obligations.
• Work with Operations and Deal Capture to optimize REC positions via banking.
• Perform data preparation, load analysis, and investigate data issues for new and existing customers.
• Prepare pricing for basic retail structures such as load following and block products.
• Communicate executable and indicative pricing for Sales timely and accurately.
• Become proficient in CES product knowledge and pricing components.
• Respond to inquiries from Back Office to ensure accurate customer settlement.
• Provide basic ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
• Work with accounting to facilitate payments and contract validation for REC trades.
