Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Dialysis Technician to support the Renal Treatment Center. You will provide direct patient care, cannulate grafts/fistulas, and operate dialysis equipment under supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician.

Responsibilities include monitoring treatments, recording vital signs, maintaining supplies, and keeping the area clean while communicating effectively with patients and the care team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BONENT/CCHT certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in Dialysis or acute care setting required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care in the Dialysis Unit as prescribed by the RN and health care team.
• Cannulate patients with grafts and fistulas under supervision.
• Operate and maintain all technical devices used in renal replacement therapies.
• Initiate and terminate hemodialysis under supervision of a nurse/physician.
• Set treatment parameters after consultation with the RN.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available at each dialysis station.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area including the utility room.
• Record pre- and post-dialysis weight, BP, pulse, and temperature.
• Record real-time BP and dialysis parameters and report abnormalities.
• Defrost and clean unit refrigerators as requested.
