Job summary

Career Consulting Partners is recruiting a Workers' Compensation Attorney for a fully remote role with California residency. The attorney will defend workers' compensation cases statewide, travel for depositions and trials as needed, and work with a supportive team to represent employers and insurers.

The position requires CA bar admission, 2–10 years of WC defense experience, and strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of California Worker's Compensation law.
• 2–10 years of experience in workers' compensation defense litigation.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Admission in good standing to the State Bar of California.
• Experience taking an applicant's deposition and defending a doctor’s deposition.
• Experience appearing for WC hearings (status conference, priority conference, MSC, lien conference).
• Experience preparing cases for trial; many cases settle before or on trial.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases with a very active support staff (2:1 assignment ratio).
• Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases with dedicated support staff.
• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies.
• Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
• Assess claims, advise clients on exposure and liability, and negotiate settlements.
• Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws and stay updated on legal changes.
• Participate in mediation and dispute resolution.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff while maintaining strong client relationships.
