Job summary

ProAssurance seeks an Underwriter I to support our workers' compensation line (Eastern Alliance) remotely from Nashville, Nashville area, Chattanooga or Knoxville, TN. You will analyze risks, issue quotations, and manage renewals with agency partners, while building strong relationships and pursuing professional development.

The role requires 25% travel, a bachelor’s in business/insurance (or equivalent with CPCU/CIC/CRM), and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience through CPCU/CIC/CRM designations.
• Eight years of industry related experience or equivalent with professional designations.
• Experience in workers' compensation or insurance industry; active pursuit of professional designations (CPCU, CIC, CRM, AU, ARM, AINS, etc.).
• Ability to travel 25% of the time, including weekly local travel and monthly overnight travel.
• Ability to establish effective internal and external relationships.
• Ability to attend insurance and industry/business functions to promote and present a positive image of the Company.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new software.
• Advanced analytical ability to research, analyze and interpret information and make profitable risk decisions.
• Attention to detail in processing policy information, meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and document risks for new and renewal business within authority; decide on accept/modify/decline per guidelines.
• Process quotations, policies, renewals, endorsements, etc. in coordination with partners and colleagues.
• Cultivate strong company-agency and client relationships through regular visits and communication.
• Support recovery initiatives with agents and clients to align with wellness procedures.
• Prepare for and participate in bi-monthly team meetings and weekly Roundtable discussions.
• Monitor reports and interdepartmental communications to manage book of business and results.
• Contribute to company projects and industry events for professional growth.
• Mentor assigned Associate Underwriters.
