Job summary

The Hartford in the Chicago area is hiring a Team Leader - Claims (Workers’ Compensation). You will lead claim investigation, compensability determinations, and settlements, guiding reserves in line with policy and ethics while developing staff.

The role supports a hybrid or remote schedule, with in-office days near Naperville, IL when needed. Candidates should have 3+ years WC claims experience, strong leadership and communication skills, plus analytical thinking and medical terminology

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Workers’ Compensation Claims experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities with staff development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across audiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage claim professionals with corresponding claim inventories.
• Utilize financial tools to monitor reserves and trends.
• Lead change and align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current on industry trends and organizational strategies.
• Apply critical thinking to information gathering and decision making.
• Oversee claim assignment, investigation, disposition and settlement processes.
• Assess indemnity and expense exposure and manage reserves accurately.
• Ensure timely resolution of claims and adherence to deadlines.
• Interpret insurance coverage and maintain knowledge of loss-cost containment initiatives.
• Identify mitigation and recovery opportunities including subrogation when applicable.
• Train and develop staff to achieve goals and strengthen leadership within the team.
