Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff Attorney to join its in-house team on a remote basis with occasional in-person appearances in California. You will manage a workers’ compensation caseload, develop defense strategies, and coordinate with Claims Partners to protect insureds while delivering strong client service.

This role requires a JD, CA license, and 3–5 years of experience depending on level, with opportunities for growth and access to ongoing CLE and AI-assisted research tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of legal practice experience handling Workers' Compensation cases.
• JD from accredited law school and license to practice in California.
• Trial experience is preferred.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop well-reasoned strategies.
• Independently prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial briefs.
• Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for Hartford insureds.
• Provide timely legal advice and support to clients while maintaining professional diplomacy.
• Participate in team huddles and conduct in-house training for junior associates and claims partners.
