Job summary

VaVa Virtual Assistants is seeking an experienced Web Developer for remote freelance work. You will design, build, and maintain client websites, primarily WordPress, handling front-end and back-end tasks, migrations, and ecommerce integrations.

This role suits self-directed freelancers who already run a web development practice, comfortable with client communication, project scoping, and using AI tools to boost productivity. Minimum 10 hours/week as a 1099 contractor.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with PHP backend experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain multiple client websites, primarily WordPress.
• Build and customize front-end interfaces aligned with client branding.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain backend functionality in PHP.
• Manage e-commerce builds on WooCommerce, Shopify, or ThriveCart.
• Execute migrations, domain transfers, and hosting changes with minimal downtime.
• Implement security measures to protect client sites.
• Set up landing pages, automations, and integrations with Zapier, Make, or n8n; utilize ConvertKit or Klaviyo for marketing.
• Monitor analytics, optimize sites for SEO/AEO, and report on metrics.
• Leverage AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT to streamline development and create custom workflows.
• Collaborate with designers and other contractors for brand or content needs.
• Capture and communicate project requirements and timelines in clear, non-technical language.
• Provide ongoing maintenance and support across multiple client sites.
• Document site structure, credentials, and key technical decisions.
• Complete additional development tasks within engagement scope.
