Job summary

Macdonald & Company partners with a premier real estate investment firm to appoint a Vice President or Principal to build and lead a new powered land strategy for data centers across the United States. The role focuses on early-stage development, site acquisition, and monetization through sales to developers and operators.

The successful candidate will drive strategy nationwide, secure markets with strong power potential, manage utility engagements, and establish a dedicated platform over time

Qualifications

• Experience in data center site selection and powered land development.
• Proven ability to secure land acquisitions and options.
• Experience engaging utilities and navigating power approvals.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and evaluation of powered land and early-stage data center opportunities nationwide.
• Identify markets and sites with strong power capacity for future data center development.
• Build relationships with utilities, landowners, brokers, developers and consultants.
• Negotiate land acquisitions, options, and structures to secure site control.
• Lead utility engagement: power availability, timing, and service access requirements.
• Assess capital needs, risks and returns of powered land opportunities.
• Coordinate due diligence, entitlements, engineering and development activities.
