Job summary

Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. is seeking a Vice President, Operational Accounting Lead to ensure accuracy and timeliness of cash, debt, and expenses across all entities. You will lead a team of accountants, drive GAAP-compliant reporting, and implement AI-enabled process improvements.

The role reports to the Insurance & Group Controller and requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross‑functional collaboration to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Thorough knowledge of Life & Annuity (re)insurance accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP/STAT/SFS and EBS rules.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and refine the general ledger structure and chart of accounts.
• Lead legal entity accounting, consolidation, and intercompany processes with GAAP adherence.
• Oversee FX translations, cash flow statements, and related-party accounting.
• Develop and maintain account hierarchies and journal entry processes.
• Provide robust control procedures, reconciliations, and related controls.
• Coordinate with Treasury to settle intercompany balances monthly.
• Drive automation and standardization of operational processes across entities.
• Lead and mentor accounting teams and promote continuous improvement.
