Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College seeks a visionary Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA) to lead the college’s financial and administrative operations.

Reporting to the President, the VPFA will guide long-range financial planning, budgets, and internal controls across multiple campuses to support student success and institutional priorities. The successful candidate will bring senior-level experience in higher education finance, strong collaboration with executive leadership,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, higher education administration, or a related field.
• Ten years of executive leadership experience in higher education, government, or similar public-sector org.
• Experience leading organizational change and long-range financial planning.
• Experience overseeing budgets, financial operations, and administrative services.
• Strong knowledge of public-sector finance, budgeting, compliance and risk management.
• Excellent communication, analytical and executive leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor to the President on strategy, financial sustainability, and operations.
• Partner with Executive Cabinet to advance the college’s strategic plan and goals.
• Lead long-range financial planning, capital planning, and resource allocation.
• Provide leadership for Financial Services, HR, Facilities, and Campus Safety across campuses.
• Develop multi-year financial strategies aligned with enrollment and workforce needs.
• Oversee annual operating and capital budgets and provide financial analyses for decisions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting.
