Job summary

Ottobock.care is seeking a Verification of Benefits & Prior Authorization Coordinator to support our Pennsylvania and Maryland clinics. This role handles insurance verifications and prior authorizations for orthotic and prosthetic devices, ensuring accurate benefits are documented and communicated to patients.

You will collaborate with teams, process requests via phone and portals, maintain patient records, and uphold HIPAA and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently.
• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Minimum typing of 45 wpm; Excellent ten-key skills.
• Professional telephone manner: ability to hear, communicate and comprehend by telephone for prolonged periods.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and good judgment in resolving customer service issues.
• Ensures assigned work is complete and accurate by the end of each shift.
• Strong computer skills; Proficient in MS Office and databases.
• HIPAA regulations and Medicare/insurance carrier websites experience.
• Experience with HCPCS and ICD-10 billing codes.
• Minimum 2 years’ medical billing experience, preferably in orthotics/prosthetics/DMEs.

Responsibilities

• Perform insurance verifications and authorizations for orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate insurance requirements.
• Communicate accurate benefits to patients or customers.
• Explain co-insurance and deductible amounts and collect when possible.
• Process authorization requests via phone or online portals.
• Create patient accounts and manage documentation in the Medical Record system.
• Inform management of changes in requirements for training/compliance.
• Answer calls promptly with professional service.
• Participate in training programs for ongoing development.
• Comply with HIPAA and Corporate Compliance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
