Job summary

DeVry University seeks Visiting Professors to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, software engineering, information systems, and related fields. Courses meet once or twice weekly for eight weeks, blending face-to-face interaction with online discussions and assignments.

Responsibilities include developing syllabi, organizing and updating course materials, leveraging online tools, and modeling clear communication while integrating responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Doctorate with at least 18 graduate credit hours in software development or related disciplines.
• 3–5 years of applied professional software development experience.
• Experience with modern programming languages, development frameworks, and software engineering practices.
• Certifications relevant to programming or software engineering.
• Strong subject matter expertise and ability to explain complex concepts to diverse learners.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, software lifecycle management, and QA methodologies.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology and responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a campus template and includes terminal course objectives.
• Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
• Uses online technologies and course-related software to prepare and deliver the course and make it accessible to students.
• Models effective oral and written communication to engage students and improve learning.
• Sets clear course expectations by publishing terminal objectives, assignment dates, and weight distribution for evaluations.
• Ensures exams align with course objectives and provide timely feedback.
• Embraces responsible use of AI technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
• Addresses appropriate and inappropriate AI tool use in academic work.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
