Job summary

Amae Health is seeking a part-time Virtual Intake Therapist in California to serve as the clinical front door for prospective members. The role conducts comprehensive intake assessments, determines care level, and guides individuals and families through the Amae model.

You will collaborate with California clinics, enrollment teams, and care directors to ensure accurate triage, strong documentation, and smooth hand-offs. Licensing in CA is required and telehealth proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice as a therapist in California (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist) in good standing.
• Master's or Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related clinical field.
• Previous experience conducting clinical intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and level-of-care determinations.
• Direct experience with serious mental illness (SMI) populations.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment and crisis safety planning.
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and enrollment teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual biopsychosocial intake assessments, mental status exams, and risk assessments.
• Determine level of care and fit for PHP/IOP and provide referrals if not a fit.
• Develop diagnostic impressions and preliminary treatment recommendations.
• Coordinate with Clinic Directors and care teams across California.
• Communicate Amae Health's programs to prospective members and families.
• Maintain accurate intake documentation and coordinate with utilization review/insurance authorization.
• Provide occasional individual or group therapy coverage during low-intake periods.
