Job summary

Kentro seeks a Virtual Desktop System Engineer to support the VA ESOM contract, delivering expert engineering, administration, and optimization of the VA’s enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Ten (10) years of relevant systems administration or enterprise infrastructure experience.
• Experience administering Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or comparable enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Experience supporting Windows Server and enterprise virtual desktop environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional technical teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting enterprise application packaging, deployment, testing, and integration activities within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience with modern endpoint management and deployment technologies (Windows Autopilot, co-management, cloud-based management).
• Experience using ServiceNow for IT service management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.
• Partner with infrastructure, networking, security, and application engineering teams to deliver virtualization initiatives.
• Lead design and implementation of enterprise virtual desktop solutions and their continuous improvement.
• Lead application packaging, testing, and deployment for VDI environments.
• Align application requirements with device baselines and security configurations.
• Act as SME in Azure Virtual Desktop and Citrix environments.
• Publish and maintain VA-required applications within VDI environments.
• Analyze and resolve performance issues using monitoring tools and logs.
• Serve as escalation resource for complex desktop deployment and integration issues.
• Collaborate with Virtual Desktop teams on compatibility and readiness activities.
• Support endpoint modernization and operational engineering across Virtual Desktop Environments.
