Job summary

Hisense USA in Alpharetta seeks an experienced video encoding researcher to join our R&D team. You'll work on standards-based codecs, optimization, and new generation techniques, with potential remote work.

The role requires a Master's degree and 3+ years in video coding, strong C/C++ skills, and knowledge of H.264/HEVC/VVC/SAV1. Collaboration with international teams and participation in standard bodies are encouraged. Excellent English communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or above in computer science, electronic engineering, signal processing or related majors.
• More than 3 years of experience in researching or developing video encoding and decoding algorithms.
• Proficient in the principles and implementation details of at least one mainstream video coding standard (such as H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, H.266/VVC, AV1).
• Solid foundation in digital signal processing, image processing, and information theory; proficient in C/C++ programming language.
• Good communication skills and teamwork spirit; excellent English reading and communication skills.
• Experience in MPEG and AVS proposals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research international standards for video encoding and decoding and their extensions.
• Design, implement, and optimize encoding/decoding algorithms and core modules.
• Explore and develop new generation efficient video encoding technologies such as JVET EE2.
• Monitor trends in video encoding/decoding and conduct forward-looking research.
• Participate in MPEG and other standard conferences and submit relevant proposals.
