Job summary

Boston Medical Center seeks a Remote Pre Service Center (PSC) Verification Specialist to coordinate financial clearance, registrations, and insurance verifications for scheduled care. You will work within the Revenue Cycle Patient Access team to obtain referrals and pre-service authorizations, ensuring smooth access to care and accurate documentation in the Epic system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• 1–3 years hospital registration and/or insurance experience desirable.
• Knowledge of healthcare terminology and CPT-ICD10 codes advantageous.
• Experience with Epic systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors accounts in registration, referral and prior authorization work queues and clears them per guidelines.
• Keeps current with insurance requirements for prior authorizations/referrals and related processes.
• Navigates BMC and payer policies to obtain authorizations and referrals for scheduled care.
• Supports staff in understanding financial clearance issues across departments.
• Uses online databases, electronic communication, faxes and calls to obtain verifications, authorizations and referrals.
• Documents referral/prior authorizations in the Epic environment prior to admission.
• Collaborates with physicians, practices and insurance carriers to obtain and record required approvals for services.
• Performs follow-up from management reports and WQ’s as needed.
• Interacts with patients and providers to obtain necessary information for reimbursement and compliance.
• Maintains patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA and policies.
