Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time, remote Prior Authorization Specialist I to support Insurance Verification and financial clearance. You will handle pre-registration, verify eligibility, obtain referrals and precertifications, and coordinate with providers and patients to ensure timely access to care.

You will work with care teams to navigate payer requirements, document approvals, and maintain confidentiality. Strong communication and Epic experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• 4-5 years of office experience in a high-volume data entry or health care setting.
• Experience with insurance payer websites (e.g., Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare) and verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize incoming Prior Authorization requests and process them per policy.
• Refer complex cases requiring clinical judgment to Clinician or Medical Director.
• Meet productivity and turnaround time metrics while handling full caseload.
• Assist Prior Authorization Clinicians and coordinate with departments to obtain required authorizations.
