Job summary

Xterra Health is seeking a VA disability claims consultant to guide veterans through the claims process via phone consultations. You will review medical and service records, draft roadmaps of potential conditions, and advise on evidence needed to support claims with accuracy and empathy.

Responsibilities include conducting follow-up consultations, finalizing written roadmaps, and staying current on VA regulations and rating criteria.

Qualifications

• Current or former VSO/VSR/RVSR or equivalent knowledge of the VA disability claims process with 1+ year of consulting experience.
• Ability to review medical and service records and identify claimable conditions and evidence gaps.
• Experience explaining complex VA processes clearly and respectfully to veterans by phone.
• Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and follow-through.
• Proficiency with relevant systems, or ability to learn them quickly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct phone consultations with veterans to explain the VA disability claims process and set clear expectations for next steps.
• Review veteran records to build a draft roadmap of potential conditions and necessary evidence.
• Identify evidence gaps and advise on claim strategies based on records.
• Finalize the roadmap and provide written guidance to veterans.
• Coordinate with team leadership and contribute to process documentation and playbooks.
