Job summary

Prisma Health Urgent Care remote supervising physician role seeks an experienced clinician to provide oversight and support to Advanced Practice Providers. You will supervise, review cases, and guide APPs during assigned coverage periods from a fully remote setting, while aligning with SC requirements.

Applicants must reside in South Carolina, be board certified or board eligible, hold a current DEA registration, and have urgent care or related emergency medicine experience.

Qualifications

• Must physically reside in the state of South Carolina.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible and licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
• Current DEA registration.
• Experience with procedures including suturing and drainage of abscesses.
• Experience reading diagnostic studies, including X-rays and EKGs.
• BLS certification (we will provide this if needed).
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing set forth by Prisma Health Urgent Care / WellStreet Urgent Care.
• Experience in Urgent Care, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely clinical consultation and support to APPs during supervision periods, including by telephone or other approved means.
• Provide clinical guidance and review cases requiring physician involvement, including high-risk concerns.
• Provide appropriate clinical direction when concerns arise and escalation to higher care as needed.
• Review and cosign APP documentation when required by law or policy.
• Provide additional clinical support and case review during orientation or enhanced supervision.
• Participate in quality improvement and peer review activities related to APP practice.
• Support APP practice within the provider’s scope and supervision requirements.
