Job summary

EMC Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced Underwriting Leader to provide strategic direction for assigned lines of business and enterprise-wide initiatives. You will guide product development, pricing strategy, and underwriting guidance while mentoring a team of professionals.

In this role, you will influence profitability through analysis of premiums, losses, and trends, and partner with branch offices and corporate leadership on short- and long-term plans.

Qualifications

• Ten years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Five years of leadership experience in underwriting roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for underwriting across assigned LOB and enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Lead and mentor underwriting teams; coordinate workload and performance.
• Develop and communicate underwriting guidance, best practices, and product ideas enterprise-wide.
• Oversee profit and loss for assigned LOB and develop the business plan.
• Engage with branch offices and senior leaders to drive profitability and risk management.
