Job summary

Assurant offers a paid 12-week Underwriting Intern program designed to provide hands-on experience in insurance underwriting, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You will tackle real business challenges, gain mentorship, and develop foundational skills for underwriting and risk management.

Responsibilities include assisting with data collection and reporting, evaluating risk and performance, and supporting process improvements across underwriting, finance, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years completed and enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year undergrad program in Risk Management, Finance, Business Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Information Systems, or related fields (Master's candidates considered).
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and basic modeling.
• Interest in insurance, underwriting, risk assessment, and business analytics.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriting team with data collection, analysis, and reporting of key underwriting and portfolio performance metrics.
• Support review and evaluation of underwriting results, trends, risk characteristics, and financial performance.
• Prepare underwriting reports, presentations, and business insights for internal stakeholders.
• Conduct research to support underwriting strategies, pricing initiatives, and risk management decisions.
• Help identify opportunities for process improvements and more efficient underwriting practices.
• Utilize reporting and analytical tools to manage underwriting data for various projects.
• Collaborate with underwriting, finance, product, and operations to support business objectives.
