Job summary

Assurant is seeking an Underwriting Intern for a 12-week immersive program. You will gain hands-on experience in data analysis, underwriting processes, and risk management while supporting portfolio management and reporting.

This remote internship includes mentorship, development opportunities, and exposure to cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes learning and applying underwriting principles, advanced data tools, and real-world business insights to drive informed decisions and profitable

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years completed and currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate program in Risk Management, Finance, Business Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree candidates will also be considered.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and basic modeling.
• Interest in insurance, underwriting, risk assessment, and business analytics.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Underwriting team with data collection, analysis, and reporting of key underwriting and portfolio performance metrics.
• Support the review and evaluation of underwriting results, trends, risk characteristics, and financial performance.
• Assist in the preparation of underwriting reports, presentations, and business insights for internal stakeholders.
• Conduct research and analysis to support underwriting strategies, pricing initiatives, and risk management decisions.
