Job summary

Mission Underwriters seeks an Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting process for commercial lines. You will collaborate with Underwriters and brokers to ensure timely policy processing and accurate documentation, while mentoring teammates in best practices.

The role emphasizes compliance with SOPs, PAS-based issuance, and coordination across risk assessment, risk management, and carrier relations. This position is remote with occasional in-office needs and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Experience in the commercial insurance industry and regulatory environment.
• 2+ years directly supporting commercial lines underwriters.
• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of underwriting experience.
• Working knowledge of PDF, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Underwriters to quote, bind, and issue policies and endorsements.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with brokers.
• Prepare and review policy files and documentation for accuracy.
• Request and verify Broker of Record letters and other underwriting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and SOPs.
• Prepare policies for issuance using the PAS.
• Lead or assist in PAS testing and review initiatives with management.
• Participate in special projects and additional responsibilities.
