Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced ULH Transport Engineer to work remotely on long-term opportunities. The role requires 8+ years in ULH detail, strong background in ULH equipment and technologies, and experience with optical equipment from Fujitsu, Cisco, and Ciena.

Responsibilities include designing and deploying optical transport solutions across the global network, coordinating with planning, provisioning, and vendors.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in ULH detail / transport/ equipment engineering.
• Extensive background in ULH equipment/ technologies.
• Experience with optical equipment- Fujitsu, Cisco, Ciena.
• Well versed with transport engineering, DWDM, SONET, ROADM.
• Experience building iSPecs, network augmentations, and technical documentation.
• Prior experience working for or supporting Verizon.
• Knowledge or familiarity with FIM, ICON, TCOMS, COFEE, CCP, nSAP.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed network solutions leveraging the client’s transport network consisting of ULH, SONET, OTN, DWDM, and metro access.
• Design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions to augment metro access components of the global network.
• Collaborate with planning, provisioning, standards, and sales teams as well as equipment vendors on network and customer solutions.
• Partner with field operations and other implementation organizations to obtain information such as space, power, and fiber availability required to complete project engineering.
• Create install specifications (ISPECS) and applicable diagrams and drawings required for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of Metro transport equipment deployed into the network.
• Developing project BOM and placing orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware requirements.
• Defining cable requirements, creating cable running lists, and ordering all cables.
• Ensuring all engineering documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Ensuring work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.
• Responsible for managing deployment of projects to achieve targeted and measured business goals and key objectives.
• Identify, monitor, report and escalation project-related issues to achieve timely resolution.
• Develop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives.
• Utilize project tracking tools and systems to accurately document milestones completions, project issues, corrective action plans, project jeopardies and overall project completions.
